21st July Rainbow Valley – Kulgera

21st July Rainbow Valley – Kulgera
The temperature during the night dropped to -5.5 degrees so it was pretty cold.
At 5.00 AM, I went to the loo and tried to wipe my hands on the wipes but they were a frozen mass!!!! Finally woke about 8AM and was it cold!!! My fingers were like blocks of ice.
After brekkie we headed back to the Stuart Highway, turned south towards the SA border. We did a detour to the Henbury Meteorite Craters. It is thought that the meteorite would have weighed in excess of 10-15 tonnes and is the second largest to have ever hit earth.
Tonight we are camped at Kulgera – the first and last pub in the Northern Territory. We were going to cook dinner but the wind was so strong that we could not keep the gas fire burning so we ended up going to happy hour and having dinner at the pub.
