Muir Woods - San Francisco - Jackson Hole

Day 5 Muir Woods 6 Sept
Had a sleep in then had a lazy morning. We booked on a tour to Muir Woods, 12 miles north of the Golden Gate Bridge. We were the first to be picked up. It was a glorious day and when we arrived at the Golden Gate it was visible!!!! The Muir Woods is a remnant of the ancient coast redwood forests that covered many northern Californian valleys. The trees were indeed giants but it was very dry. Must be a magical place in the mist and rain as moss hangs on the trees and stumps. Arrived back at our hotel corner at the time Marg and her family arrived back from a walk. Ended up having a few drinks and dinner at the hotel.
Day 6  Sept 7 -San Francisco – Denver- Jackson Hole
Up at 3:45 AM to be ready for our flight. Then the taxi didn’t arrive on time so it was a bit of a rush getting to the airport. Planes ran to schedule and we arrived in Jackson Hole at 1.30 PM. Picked up our car which is a Chrysler Town & Country and after much agonizing we managed to get the back child restraint unhitched. Had a couple of drives around the airport to ensure I had the car under control and off we went. Had only gone about 5 miles when we thought there was a bear jam but it was moose! Daddy, mummy and 2 babies. Couldn’t get too close.
Finally arrived at our accommodation then went for a walk. It is a unique town. The park has arches at all 4 corners that are made from antlers. Went into the Cowboy’s Bar for some drinks. It was great!!! Bar stools were saddles. Should have seen short Marg G trying to get onto the saddles!! Was a sight to behold. Followed this with a Wyoming Steak that was really tasty.
