Wednesday 6th June Ross R Resort – N’Dhala Gorge.
This gorge is about 11 km from the Ross R
Resort over 4 sandy creeks that are running. Graham gave us strict instructions
not to deviate of the worn tracks as the car would sink in the soft sand and
the underground water system that flows beneath the sand. There were a couple
of steep jump ups to negotiate as well as rocks and corregations. Allan did
some road building to allow easy access over a grid. Again, our 4 wheel drive
lessons paid off.
At the gorge we did the tourist walk. This is
another beautiful spot. It has a number of aboriginal pictographs on the rocks
but time is gradually eating them away. There are a number of rock pools where
the budgies and the finches hang out. Today the budgies were elusive. After lunch we drove back to camp.
Stopped a number of times to photograph the cars driving through the water.
Tonight I am making my first damper! Wonder
if lit will be successful?
Was going to try taking some star trails but
it is full moon and as bright as daylight.
