Saturday 17th September Sligo – Galway

“If you ever go across the sea to Ireland,

Then maybe at the closing of your day

You will sit and watch the moon rise over Claddagh,

And watch the sun go down on Galway Bay.”

Today we are sitting in our room overlooking Galway Bay. We have heard this song so many times and now, we can actually see the Bay from our window even if it is raining!!!

Left Sligo this morning in pouring rain and so decided to head for Galway instead of doing part of the Coast Road. Found accommodation at the Salthill Hotel right on Galway Bay and then headed into the town to have a browse around. The rain persisted but we did get a couple of small gaps on no rain when I was able to take a couple of photos.

Jo was driver today and managed the many round-abouts very well. She also parked in a parking lot in the city!! Just as well we have a tiny Fiesta as our own cars would not have even got through the entrance let alone up the narrow ramp!!!!

The Irish people that we have met are all so friendly and all on for a chat.
