September 12th Dunure - Stranraer

Dunure – Stranraer
Drove to Stranraer this morning. Decided to stay in the same place for 2 nights as we catch the ferry to Ireland from here.
Once we found a B&B we drove to the Rhinns of Galloway, or (Galloway Peninsula) towards the southern most tip of Scotland – Mull of Galloway. On one side is the Irish Sea and on the other Luce Bay. It was prime grazing land all the way and fat cows everywhere.
We ended up at the Mull of Galloway Lighthouse. I climbed the 115 steps to the top. Jo gave it a miss as it hurts here hip to climb down. While it was a fine day, there was cloud so we could not see to Ireland but on a fine day, you can see the Cliffs of Mourne, and the Lakes District in England. We had lunch in Gallie Craig Coffee Shop. What a great outlook - over the sea and down the coast.

Stopped at the Logan Botanic Garden. While it was nice, the majority of the flowers had already bloomed so it was a bit disappointing photography wise. Also stopped at the Kirkmadrine Early Christian Stones. They were in an old church and dated from the 5th or 6th century. Amazing that the inscriptions can still be read.
