Albany 22nd October

This morning we visited the Farmer’s Market in town but it was pretty ordinary. We came back to the car through St John’s Anglican Church grounds. Tomorrow is their centenary. The church was the first to be consecrated in WA and it was a really beautiful little church. After shopping we drove up Mt Clarence to the ANZAC Memorial. There was a memorial drive and then 100 steps to the memorial. Albany was the place where the first Aussie soldiers left to go to World War 1.
After lunch, we drove to the Albany Wind Farm and did a walk around the farm. Flies and mosquitoes attacked us in force!!! Jo went back to the car for the repellent. That did improve things. We then drove to Whale World but did not have enough time to go through so went to the Blowholes. It was 600m down and 100 odd steps. Met some folks coming back who said that it was not blowing so we decided to give it a miss then went to The Gap and the Natural Bridge. They were spectacular. Albany seems to be set around a series of granite boulders and these extend out into the sea. The Gap is a 25 metre granite sheer drop to the ocean and the waves rush through it. Wouldn’t like to fall in. Storms came in this afternoon but we were home by that time.
