Yeah!!! We made it! We followed the Murray from its source to its mouth. Today we completed the journey by taking a cruise from Goolwa on the "Spirit of the Coorang". We really lucked it! the boat driver said that they get a day like today about 3-4 times a year. We were able to cruise across the mouth and then moored on the eastern side of the mouth. On the way back, we had great difficulty getting back to the main channel as the water level of the Lake has dropped and the sand banks are developing again. The afternoon cruise was be able to land on the eastern side and the driver said that they may have to take the boat out and put it in a different place as the Lake was drying up quite quickly and the sand bars were developing and extending.
We celebrated our achievement by taking our photo at the mouth. Allan made a banner for us.
On our return, we had lunch at Hector's - named for an old river man. Lunch was very good. We then drove to the Ballast Stone Winery for a tasting. Kerry Holst suggested we go there. Bought a really nice port.
