Still chasing pictures of wrens so got early to go out to the Lagoon. Did not find any that were not hidden below lots of undergrowth. We packed up and started back. As it was showering when we came into Denham we had not visited all the lookouts along the Bay so as we went out today we called in. The thing that astounds me about this area is the vividness of the colours – red of the dunes, almost pure white of the beaches where the shells are, the aqua through to dark blue of the bay, then the blue and white of the sky.
As we reached the highway, the country changed from the stunted saltbush to the taller trees, colourful orange banksia, acacias, grevillea and colourful wildflowers were interspersed with the local grasses.
We stopped at the Warburton River for lunch and a guy who was packed next to us serenaded us during the time we were there. He informed us that he was only a little bit inebriated.
Stayed in Geraldton tonight. Went to the museum at 4 PM but it was closed so will do that tomorrow. At 6AM tomorrow the “New Endeavour” sails from the harbour here so hope to get up in time to see it.
