Panoramic views of the Indian Ocean greeted us today when we visited Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and climbed out onto the balcony. Jo decided to stay at the base. This lighthouse was constructed as seven ship had been lost along this coast. It is still a working lighthouse. This is where the Cape to Cape Walking Track begins. There are several smaller walks including the 4km return walk to the whale viewing platform. There were several whales off the coast but a fair way off. On the way, we met a Blue Fairy Wren so that was really exciting.
On our way back to Dunsborough, which is located on Geographe Bay, we called in to see Eagle Bay and Meelup Beach where we had lunch. The beach was fantastic – blue green water and white sand. Idyllic spot! After lunch, we drove to Busselton and visited the Ambergate Reserve where we did a walk. Had to wash our boots before we entered – concern about die-back. Found three wild orchids. Then it was back to Busselton to see their 1841 metre long jetty. There is an underwater observatory at the end but by the time we arrived it was too late so we did the train ride to the end. Again, whales were seen in the distance. As it was 6.00 PM when we got back, we decided to have dinner at the “Goose” restaurant which was on the waterfront and gave us a grandstand view of the sunset. Raced home in time to see the new series of “Doc Martin
