Kalbarri 1 October 2011
Kalbarri National Park covers 183 004 hectares and the Murchison River has cut out 80km of gorges. This was our destination for today. There are warnings everywhere about the need to have water and the effect that heat can have on you. It is one of the hottest days we have experienced since we left home. We visited Nature’s Window, the Loop and Z-Bend. Each require a 500 – 700 m walk down hill and then back up! It is the height of the steps that makes the walk difficult. Looked really groovy with the fly veil and all!!! Then we drove out to Hawk’s Head and Ross Graham Lookout. Here we were able to actually reach the river. Got home in time to see Geelong win the Grand Final. Another encounter with a tick. When we arrived home, I was hot and sticky so decided to have a shower. Found a tick embedded in my mid-drift, then after the shower, found another one on the shower floor. Jo escaped them today.
