Gemtree to Ross River via Binns Track

Monday 4 June – Gemtree to Ross River Station via Binns Track
Had a late start today as we only had 170km to travel down the Binns Track. The track was named after Binns who was a National Parks person. The track is 4wd only and winds its way through the Eastern Mac Donnell Ranges. It was really corrugated in places but the big problem was the many creek crossings and the hidden dips in them that could cause problems if you were not careful. The road seemed to wind through the valleys between the ranges. We all marveled at the beauty of the ranges as we would come to a rise and in the distance was this vast expanse of hills – shades ranging from jacaranda to deep blue and then you got close the rocks were red with some interspersed with white. Jo and I remarked at how well the aboriginal artists represent the colours of these ranges.
We are staying in the caravan park at the Ross River Resort and will be here for a few days. From here we are going to explore the gorges and the guy who works here has offered to take us to the Sphinx and Great Wall of China.

  1. Hi Jankaz,

It was a nice trip, can you please share your experience about Great Wall of China. I never seen it but we will plan something in next year or after that. We have already planned our trip to wilpena pound resort, I collected and visited many blogs to find information about this place and I am sure our trip will be wonderful.

    Regards,
    Brenda.
