Renahan's Bore - WA Border Tuesday 12 June 2012Dust

Dust as a car left our camping spot at Renahan's Bore!!!
Tuesday 12th June Renahans Bore – WA Border
After our dust bath, we set forth. About 6.30 AM two big rigs with three jinkers on drove past the camp site and one had come in during the night. It had 72 tyres on it! Glad I wasn’t paying for them.
The road today was the best we have had on the Tanami. It was especially good close to The Granites Gold Mine. We were going to call into Rabbit Flats even though it is closed but it is now fenced off so we continued on the NT/WA border. The scenery today changed often from the spinifix grassland, to scattered trees interspersed with hundreds of ant hills to some quite thickly wooded areas. AS you looked across the spinifix country it looked like a golden wheat field. Lots of wrecked cars left along side the road.

There is a free camp spot on the WA/NT border. We stopped about 2.30 so we were first in and got the best camp site. It does not have the bull dust of last night’s camp. Cooked Thai chicken curry for dinner. While we were having nibbles  I noticed a Kite in a tree close by so grabbed the camera. Well! Did he put on a show for me. Just sat there and looked, then preened his feathers. Got some good shots. Made good use of the shower tonight. Temperature of the water is just right. The temperature today went up to 26 degrees so tomorrow we will all be in our summer clothes again. Can put my flanno away until we are on the way home.
