WA Border to Lake Stretch - June 13

June 13 NT-WA Border to Lake Stretch
Had to top up with fuel before leaving our campsite. Our first stop was a detour off the Tanami Road into Balgo, an aboriginal community to get fuel and a permit to camp on Lake Gregory. We missed the ranger so have to fix the account up on the internet.
We drove to Handover Camping spot but it was a long way from Lake Gregory so decided to head to Lake Stretch instead. We were on a loop road going around Lake Gregory and it was pretty rough. We then looped onto the Canning Stock Route!!!! What a track! It was ssooooo corrugated that we were unable to drive at more than 25kph. It was relentless. We kept thinking with each change of landscape that we must be there but NOOO!!!! It just kept on going. Up and down dunes corrugations, along the flats – corrugations – on jump ups – corrugations!. After 41/2 hours to do 115km we arrived at Lake Stretch and had to set up in the dark. Needless to say we were all bushed and very happy to roll into bed.
