Before leaving Alice Springs we had to fill up with diesel and also fill our 3 containers so that we were prepared for the stretch of the Tanami where there is no fuel. Unfortunately, one of our diesel containers leaked so we had to purchase a new one then drive out of town to transfer the fuel from one container to the other. Then it was back to Alice to buy bread for the track.
So we finally set off about 11.30 AM. Fortunately, we only had about 170km to travel to Tilmouth Well. Allan was not impressed as it was bitumen all the way. We stopped at Hamburger Creek to take a photo and I found a jack that someone had obviously jacked up their car and driven off without.
Again, we were awe struck by the beauty of the distant ranges. At the moment, the grass is thick but had yellowed with the onset of winter and the contrasts in colours is what is so amazing.
Tilmouth Wells Roadhouse was another eye-opener. The campsite has mown green grass, electricity, water and a open fire site. Allan was in his element as he was able to go fetch wood and start a fire.
I went for a walk towards the motel units with my camera as I was searching for birds and met two guys geologists– one was interested in landscape photography and the other in bird photography so I had a long talk with them are learnt so much. We spent some time taking the galahs but my shosts compared with his was like chalk and cheese!!
Few spots of rain tonight and according to our neighbours, big rain is on the way so hope we get up the track before it comes.
