Thursday 7 June Ross R Resort – Alice Springs

Had a late start. En-route to Alice Springs
we stopped at Corroboree Rock. We then drove to Emily and Jessie Gaps. When I
was here two years ago there was water in the gaps but today it was dry. Few
birds around. Jo found a Western Bowerbird in its bower but by the time I got
there it has fled to shelter behind the leaves.
Alice is a buzz as it is the Finke Desert
Challenge and riders are here from all around the world. We got the last two
camp spots in the caravan park.
Thought it was going to be noisy as they had
a country and western singer entertaining the crowd and it was just near our
sites. In fact, it was most enjoyable. They sold soup and bread in the camp
kitchen so that was an easy meal.
