Our objective today was to arrive at All Saints Winery in time for lunch. We drove west to Hoolong, then on to Corowa. Stopped there for a walk along the Main Street and for a coffee. The place we had coffee used Mamma Superior Coffee - it is roasted in Albury. It was a very good coffee so Allan wants to buy some of the blend. Found the shop when we returned to Albury but it closed at 3.30PM.
Crossed over the Murray into Victoria and headed towards Rutherglen. Stopped for a tasting at the Rutherglen Estates Winery. Duif is a very popular drop here.
Arrived at All Saints for lunch. It is one of Australia's original wineries and was established in 1864. In the late eighties Brown Brothers purchased the neighbouring property and then purchased All Saints. In 1996 Peter Brown took over the management of both properties, then purchased them outright. His three children now run the estate.
Lunch was most enjoyable. Smoked trout was one of the offerings for entree and both Jo and Pat really enjoyed it. Mains were just as good. I had an indulgence day and had main and dessert. The meal was topped off with a great Pinot Grigio.
It is quite dry here. We were told today that it has not rained since October. They would love some of the Queensland rain. We did get a quite heavy shower of rain on our way home but has disappeared now.
