Sept 19 Rapid City via Denver to San Jose
Arrived at the Regional Airport at Rapid City to book in.
Fortunately the guy booking us in was on the ball. The flight we were booked on
from Denver left before we arrived from Rapid City. Unfortunately the only
flight that he could get us on did not leave Denver until 6.45 PM and we
arrived at 11.15 AM.
We decided to catch a taxi into the city and spend 5 hours there.
What a treck!!! The Denver Airport is HUGE!!! We had to walk for ages then use
3 travelators, two elevators, an underground train for two stops just to reach
the area from which we could exit. The airport is 26 miles from the town so the
taxi cost us $55 ( cheap when divided by 4). We saw The Cheese Cake Factory, so
headed there for lunch. We had been in San Francisco and they have the best
food – Not to mention the cheesecakes!!!!
We then took a drive on the free shuttle that runs up 13th
Street. Saw a few of the major buildings – including Capitol Building. – Not to

Back to the airport and aboard the plane which left on time. We
arrived in San Jose Airport about 9PM. Then we had to find the rental company,
book out the car. It is a Chrysler Town & Country (same as our last one but
a later model). We all love the car as we have so much room and it is so easy
to drive. Like to have one back home.
I then had to drive the car to find a motel room for the night. What
an ordeal. Marg had the motel plugged into the Garmin but when we got there, it
was full. Then we had to find another one and it was full. We finally found one
and fell into bed about 11PM.
