Lancelin – Mullewa Monday 26th September 2011
Heavy showers fell during the night. We awoke to cloudy skies. The drive north from Lancelin was on the new coastal highway. It was very picturesque with the ocean and the stark white sand dunes that contrasted with the green of the grass and the stunted trees that grow on the coastal dunes.
When we arrived in Geraldton, the lady at the tourist information told us that the paper daisies at Mullewa were at the end of their season so we made the decision to head to Mullewa in the hope that we would see some of them. We were also told that the Wreath Flowers were in bloom at Pindar, west of Mullewa. Got accommodation at the Railway Hotel here and then walked the Mullewa Bushland Trail. Found lots of yellow paper daisies but the pick daisies are very close to the end. Tomorrow morning we will do the wlldflower walk.
